KELLY THOMAS (Greece) - LYRA

Kelly Thoma was born in Piraeus in 1978. Since 1995, she has been studying the lyra with Ross Daly and very shortly afterwards has travelled with him and his band, Labyrinth, participating in concerts all over the world. Her musical encounters with musicians from various traditions have resulted in the development of a particularly personal style. Her versatility played a great role when she became part of TOKSO’s musical universe, in which different languages and styles melt into a unique musical expression. Her debut album, entitled Anamkhara, was released in 2009 by Seistron Music.

ANNE HYTTA ( Norway) - HARDANGER FIDDLE

Anne Hytta (b.1974) from Telemark, the south-eastern part of Norway, is a performer of the Hardanger fiddle. Her background is deeply rooted in the highly distinctive playing style of the specific repertoire of traditional tunes for the Hardanger fiddle. On this basis she composes and performs her own music, solo, with her trio, Slagr, or with other ensembles. She is currently working on her own solo material for Hardanger fiddle, viola d’amore and medieval vielle in a concert production called Draumsyn, with light design and scenography.

SIGRUN ENG ( Norway) - CELLO

Sigrun Eng (b.1977) is a cellist of unusual qualities. Although a classically-trained musician, she also performs improvised avant-garde music, jazz and folk music from different parts of the world. Sigrun’s clean, non-vibrato style has proved suitable for folk music projects as well as for different ensembles on the Norwegian jazz scene. Her musical versatility has taken her to many different musical settings, giving her a broad experience that turns out particularly useful when playing with TOKSO.

ELEONORE BILLY ( France) - NYCKELHARPA

While studying violin-playing, on both a classical and traditional basis, Eleonore discovered Swedish music and the nyckelharpa which flamed up a new passion !She then left to Sweden and studied at the Eric Sahlström Institut where she found out more about the music, the dancing, the language, the art of instrument-making.The knowledge she acquired and the people she met there turned out such a fulfilling experience that today, with the help of the instrument, she aims to spread this musical culture.Yet she doesn't limit herself to this one genre and explores a large variety of musical worlds (rock, baroque, improvisation...) by playing with musicians from different backgrounds. This enables her to keep a constant good look ahead
